Instructions
Mango & pineapple cooler — put ripe mango (200 g), fresh pineapple (120 g), 1 banana, juice of 1 lime, orange juice (60 ml), 50 ml cold water and 100 g ice cubes in a blender. Secure lid and blend until completely smooth, about 45 seconds. Pour into a chilled glass and garnish with a small mint leaf.
Mixed berry & chia refresher — add frozen mixed berries (150 g), 1 banana, chia seeds (10 g), 100 ml cold water and 100 g ice cubes to the blender. Blend on high until smooth, about 40 seconds.
Leave the berry smoothie to sit for 5 minutes so the chia seeds swell and the texture becomes creamy. Stir once before serving.
Cucumber, mint & lime smoothie — roughly chop 1 cucumber and add to the blender with 1 banana, baby spinach (30 g), a generous handful of fresh mint (about 5 g), juice of 1 lime, 100 ml cold water and 100 g ice cubes. Blend until silky, about 40 seconds. Taste and add a little agave syrup if needed.
Serve each smoothie immediately while chilled. Use extra mint leaves or a thin lime wheel to garnish as you wish.
Tips
- Use ripe fruit for natural sweetness — bananas are the smoothie workhorse for texture and sweetness.
- If your blender struggles with frozen fruit, let it sit for 3–5 minutes before blending or chop fruit into smaller pieces first.
- Make the berry smoothie first and let it rest for 5 minutes so the chia swells; the texture will be creamier.
- Freeze leftover smoothie portions in ice-cube trays for later: pop cubes into a blender with a splash of water for a quick slush.
- Adjust thickness by varying the liquid: add more water for a slurpable drink, less for a spoonable smoothie.

FAQ
Can I make these ahead?
You can blend and chill for up to 24 hours, but texture and colour (especially for the green smoothie) are best if served within a few hours. Chia smoothie will thicken as it sits; stir in a little water to loosen.
Can I use milk instead of water?
Yes — oat, soya or almond milk will add creaminess. If you need to keep the recipe nut-free, avoid nut milks and use oat or soya.
How do I avoid a frothy or foamy top?
Blend at a moderate speed and stop once smooth; very high-speed blending for too long creates extra foam. Letting the drink rest for a minute lets bubbles dissipate.
